Most kids are thrilled with the idea of having a sleepover, whether they are celebrating a birthday or just want to hang out with friends. Slumber parties are a big deal for children, but they can also be a lot of work for parents. At Custom Labels Depot, we want parents to have all the information they need when throwing a special event. Utilize our parent’s guide to throw a slumber party you are comfortable with and one your child will never forget.

Choose a Theme

Choose a Theme for Your Slumber Party

A slumber party is a theme all on its own, but you are welcome to still choose a theme. There are so many great theme ideas to try, from a camping to a spa night. Ask your child for his or her opinion about the party’s theme. When in doubt, you can always go with your son or daughter’s favorite movie characters.

Make a Sleepover Guest List

As a parent, you have control of the number of guests to include in the sleepover. Once you’ve agreed to throw a slumber party, tell your kid the amount of children you are comfortable with sleeping over. Some parents are happy hosting 10 or more children at their home, while others like the keep it small. The decision is entirely up to you.

Send Party Invitations

Give other parents time to respond by reaching out to them a few weeks before the slumber party. For a formal event, it is nice to send out invitations to other parents. If you prefer calling individual households, do so as well. In your invitations or over the phone, be sure to include whether children should bring pillows or sleeping bags.

Plan the Details

Plan the Details and Pick Some Activities for the Sleepover

Now the fun begins! Work with your little one to pick some movies, games, crafts and entertainment for the night. The next step is to decide what you want to do for food. Will you be providing dinner or just snacks for your child’s friends? If you’re celebrating a birthday, should you prepare or pick up a cake? All of these questions are important to answer when planning the event.

Get Supplies and Set Up

Next, it’s time to purchase any supplies, snacks or decorations you may need. Start setting up the main party room. For a large number, using the family room or entertainment room will work well. You can also lay out air mattresses, extra mattresses or cushions around the room. Have some blankets and pillows available for those that need them.
